PRENATAL EDUCATION AND CONSULTATION

During our session, we will prepare you for what to expect once your baby is here. We will discuss ways to advocate for your breastfeeding plan in your birthing center. We will talk about the early days of breastfeeding and how to know your baby is getting all the milk she or he needs. We will also practice positioning and learning how to hand express breast milk. This is a great time to discuss all of your concerns and raise your confidence in caring for your new baby.

INITIAL CONSULTATION

This is a great follow-up to your Prenatal Education or as a stand-alone Initial Consultation. During this visit we will address what is going on with breastfeeding at the moment. We will talk about what happened before, during, and after birth. You and your baby will receive both physical and health history assessments. Your baby will be weighed before and after feedings as an important clue to determine how breastfeeding is going. Your Consultant will observe and assist with a full breastfeeding to address your concerns and develop a plan to work toward improving your experience. This Consultation will look different for each family and a follow-up may be recommended based on your situation.
